The Shade Tree Ordinance specifies the location for trees between the curb and the sidewalk (tree lawn) in relation to intersections, signs and streetlights. The ordinance also specifies heights of branches over streets and sidewalks and the varieties to be planted.  If a shade tree dies, it must be replaced in accordance with the ordinance. The ordinance requires that a permit be obtained from the Department of Public Works prior to the planting, or removing of trees in the tree lawn. The cost of the permit is $25.00.
